La Dolce Vita, literally "the sweet life," implies a profound appreciation for Italy's food, art, traditions and history. And the key to appreciating La Dolce Vita? Learning the Italian language, naturally!
Recommended for: Anyone who would like to combine a vacation in Italy with language study and a wide variety of cultural experiences. Classes and tours are led by native speakers and experts who guide students with passion, dedication, knowledge and humor.
Afternoons are devoted to cultural immersion! Students choose a one or two-week program.
Week One: During the first week students will enjoy: a guided city tour and aperitif in the beautiful Piazza del Campo; a visit to Siena's imposing Duomo (cathedral); an introduction to Tuscan cuisine: lesson and tasting; a tour of the fascinating, historic fountains of Siena and a traditional Tuscan dinner with the group leader in a renowned local restaurant.
Week Two: Over the weekend, students who enroll in the 2-week course will take an weekend excursion through the gorgeous Chianti countryside, cellar visit and wine tasting; During the week, they will receive: lesson and video about an unique medieval tradition: Siena, her ‘Contrade’ and the historical horse race of the ‘Palio’: a guided tour of the ‘Palazzo Pubblico’, Siena’s graceful gothic town hall; a pecorino’ cheese tasting, accompanied by a selection of honeys and marmelades and a guided tour to Siena's stunningly beautiful churches.
I am very happy with my choice of this school and its program “La Dolce Vita.” Every morning during the week we took a language course, while afternoons were devoted to interesting activities on topics such as olive oil, wine and Sienese cuisine. I can recommend this school with pleasure!
